Having purchased my FZR from Brian I was aware that the brakes were a little lacking - luckily he agreed to replace all the hoses with HEL brake lines. What a change. Combined with new OE pads the Yamaha surprised both Brian and myself with just how much power the front brake has with no sign of fade on hectic thrashes to the office. Honest. The ageing set up has been reformed to better than new and is good enough not to feel lacking after getting off new test bikes.

HEL is based in Devon, and makes hose kits to fit hundreds of bikes. The lines are stainless steel braided Teflon with swaged fittings in stainless steel. If stainless steel braiding seems a bit pass you can have it with a coloured PVC coating. A three line fully stainless steel brake line kit costs 75.00 inc vat and carriage in the UK and includes all banjo bolts in stainless steel and copper washers. The brake line kits come with a lifetime warranty so if you need serious stopping power go to HEL.

HEL Brake Lines, after years of experience in the hydraulics industry, are now expanding into the brake line market. The HEL lines are up to the usual high standard of aftermarket brake lines, but have the added bonus of fully swaged fittings on stainless steel braided teflon lines. The swaged fittings are lighter and slimmer than reusable fittings and are available in stainless, but not alloy due to the unsuitability of aluminium fittings on the salt laden roads of the UK.
